Experience Kits
Did you know the library lends free passes to nearby museums and historical sites? Explore what Southwestern PA has to offer with this season’s Experience Kits!

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
One of the most important gifts you can provide your child is the gift of literacy. That is why we invite you to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative.
Help your child gain the confidence necessary to become a strong reader when you read to them. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, toddler and/or preschooler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your precious one starts kindergarten.

Grow A Reader
We believe in helping little ones develop the skills need to become successful readers. We want to welcome babies and their caregivers to the library by giving you the tools to get started on the path to reading success! Stop by the Children’s Department to pick up an Early Literacy Kit swag bag for all newborns up to 12 months old. Each kit includes items to reinforce the early literacy practices: playing, singing, reading, writing, and talking. Kits are available while supplies last; 1 kit per family
